The ABB PFBK series is the core Profibus bus interface module matched with ABB AC800M DCS control system. Key Applicable System Scope
The PFBK series only supports ABB AC800M controller series, including mainstream CPU models such as PM864, PM865, PM866 and PM856. It only works with Profibus-DP V1 protocol, and it cannot be used for new Profinet systems or early AC700/AC400 control platforms. To guarantee stable bus communication, the PFBK module must be mounted on dedicated TU840 or TB840 terminal backplane. Model Iteration and Replacement Relationship
PFBK165 is the upgraded substitute of the old PFBK164 module. It optimizes anti-interference performance while keeping pin-to-pin and program compatibility. Engineers can directly replace PFBK164 with PFBK165 without rewriting control programs or changing wiring, which saves much maintenance time and reduces factory downtime.
Standard Replacement Operation Steps
- Cut off the total power of the control cabinet to avoid burning the module chip by hot plugging.
- Record original bus wiring and module station address before disassembly.
- Install the new module on the original backplane slot and connect all signal cables.
- Power on the system, scan Profibus bus and test all IO signals to confirm normal communication.
Common Fault Judgment
If the system shows CPU alarm, intermittent IO disconnection or bus failure after replacement, the main reasons are inconsistent hardware versions, mismatched backplane or wrong station address setting, not module quality problems.
